Baby massage classes

Baby massage is a lovely way to enjoy time with your baby and it is used across cultures to improve wellbeing,
promote development and encourage bonding.

Main benefits

Relief

Massage can bring relief to a number of conditions suffered by babies which can cause them to be uncomfortable during the first months of life and beyond. These include relief from colic, wind, constipation, teething pain and congestion.

Stimulation and development

Skin stimulation is crucial in the development of all young, not only human infants, as it stimulates the myelination of the nervous system - a process that enables nerve cells to transmit information faster and allows for more complex brain processes.

Relaxation

During massage, both the baby’s and the parent’s bodies produce prolactin and oxytocin (the so called “feel good hormones”), which help to balance the levels of cortisol (the “stress hormone”), promoting a feeling of comfort and relaxation.

Bonding

Baby massage plays an important role in encouraging and enhancing the bonding process between parents and baby and vice versa. Key factors include eye contact, sound of voice, touch, odour and the increased production of prolacting and oxytocin.

Pricing

Baby Massage classes are taught via video conference over Zoom. This will allow you to attend the course from the comfort of your own home and choose a time that suits you. I have my own baby model, so I will be able to demonstrate each stroke and check your technique through the camera.

The course can be private or taught in groups of up to 8 babies per class.

£50

Three classes
(40 mins each)

This is the complete version of the course.
If you wish to learn the full-body routine, including arms, hands, tummy, legs, feet, face and back, this is the perfect option for you.

£25

One-off workshop
(40 mins)

If you are not able to attend the full course, but you are interested in a specific topic (such as colic massage) this is the class I would recommend.

FAQs

+ When is it safe to start massaging my baby?

When to start massaging your baby is completely up to you and there is no such thing as "too soon" (or "too late"!).

+ My friends also have a baby. Can they join on the same dates I have booked for my course?

Of course! All you need to do is send them the link to my booking page and make sure they select the same dates as you. The prices above are to be considered "per baby".

+ Does baby massage also work with toddlers?

We have slight variations for toddlers as they are normally a lot more energetic than babies. If you are interested, you are welcome to book a one-off class and I will show you my favourite methods.

+ Is it safe to massage premature babies?

Yes, it is safe and also very beneficial. However, babies who have spent time in neonatal units may have sensitivity in certain parts of the body (normally feet and face) and may find the full body routine overstimulating. We will start gradually and observe their reactions to make sure they feel comfortable throughout the massage.

+ How does Zoom work?

It's super simple! I would recommend using a laptop rather than your phone, simply because the screen is bigger so it will be easier for you to see what I am demostrating. If you don't already have Zoom, you can either download it, or simply use the browser version by clicking directly on the link you will receive just before the beginning of the class.

+ Is it possible to reschedule a Zoom class?

Yes, sure. You can follow the "reschedule appointment" link in the email confirmation you received when booking, otherwise feel free to contact me directly. If you need to cancel at the last minute, I would really appreciate it if you could give me a heads-up over the phone.
